Greg Wilkinson
I began my military journey through a high school co-op program with 2/3 Service Battalion before completing my QL3 Medical Assistant training at CFB Borden. During my college years, I served as a medic with The Queen’s York Rangers, the same regiment in which my grandfather served.
In 2004, I joined the Royal Canadian Navy, completing Basic Training in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, and my QL3 Steward training at CFB Borden. I was subsequently posted to Halifax, serving aboard HMCS Halifax, HMCS Ville de Québec, and HMCS Preserver. Following my medical release, I moved to Labrador City, where I worked in mine security and emergency services while serving five years with the Labrador City Volunteer Fire Department.
Today, I reside in Hamilton, Ontario, and have worked with Gordon Food Service for the past 13 years as a forklift operator. I remain actively involved in supporting veterans and youth through several volunteer roles. I serve as Cadet Liaison for the North Wall Riders Association, Veterans Service Officer for the Royal Canadian Legion Stoney Creek Branch, and support Hamilton Police’s Military Veteran Wellness Program by assisting veterans in crisis and connecting them with benefits and community resources.
For the past six years, I have also volunteered as a Scout Canada leader with 7th Aldershot Scouts in Burlington. In recognition of my contributions to Scouting and the veteran community, I was honoured to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
