Heroes of the Homefront

Verse one:

Cameras flash as wheels touch down

Returning heroes homeward bound

Salutes and handshakes all around

Their loved ones standing by

Tears of joy flow as little ones

Leap into loving arms

Chorus One:

So thumbs up for the heroes of the homefront

Lower the flags and raise our glasses high

When troops are called to go

Homefront heroes serve at home

So thumbs up for the heroes of the homefront

Verse Two:

Homefront heroes play many roles

And like troops face demons, scars, and foe

Their selfless hearts and will to serve

Their strength to fight the fear

Despite the pain they come to know

It’s alright for others to share the load

Chorus two:

So thumbs up for the heroes of the homefront

Lower the flags and raise our glasses high

When troops are called to go

Homefront heroes serve at home

So thumbs up for the heroes of the homefront

Verse Three:

The road back home is bittersweet

With talk and time comes healing and peace

Comrades, families, trusted friends

Grow hope and will to live

There’s joy in knowing someone cares

Who feel the burdens that they bear

Shoulder to shoulder forever strong

They’re homefront heroes one and all

Chorus three:

So thumbs up for the heroes of the homefront

Raise the flags and lift our glasses high

When troops no longer go

returning heroes serve at home

So thumbs up for the heroes of the homefront

Oh thumbs up for the heroes at home
