Major (Retired) Michael Calnan, CD

Major (Retired) Michael Calnan served over years in the Canadian Armed Forces. He is nominated for his work founding the Swords and Ploughshares Museum in 1987, built around his collection of restored military vehicles and artifacts ranging from WWI to the present.

The museum showcases both military and civilian uses of equipment and supports local efforts to restore military monuments. Michael has also been a key supporter of numerous commemorative ceremonies across Eastern Ontario, including events for Peacekeepers’ Day, VJ Day, and the Battle of Britain.
