After dedicating 35 years as a field engineer, medic, and physician assistant in the Regular and Reserve forces, Derrick transitioned from military service to a life of community helping. A veteran of deployments to Somalia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and multiple tours in Afghanistan, he was medically released and found his calling in writing, volunteering, and supporting fellow veterans. He pairs his extensive field experience with academic knowledge, holding a Bachelor’s in Sociology, a Master of Physician Assistant Studies, and currently pursuing a Master of Art Therapy. Derrick looks forward to championing the veteran community through the Canadian Walk for Veterans.
