Ty Kushnir
Ty Kushnir, an immigrant to Canada, has really put his best foot forward to give back to his adopted country. His work started with the Canadian Cadet Movement as a volunteer and then civilian instructor, hosting some of the largest and grandest events that the Calgary area has ever seen. Ty also started volunteering with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award program, becoming an Award Leader, mentoring many young people in Calgary to achieve their respective level of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Recognized for his efforts, Ty has recently become the Co-Chair of the Alberta Local Council for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, helping forge new partnerships in the program and assisting run award and alumni events. Recently Ty has also joined the ranks of St. John Ambulance and taken on the role of a Medical First Responder in the Community Service Division. You may see Ty out and about in his bright yellow vest ready, willing and able to provide First Aid services. As a spouse to an Honourary Military Aide de Camp to the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, Ty gives his time to the Vice-Regal Household anytime they need some additional help and assistance at events hosted by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. Finally, Ty is a member of the Order of St. George, a Canadian organization whos mission is to support members of the Canadian Armed Forces, Veterans, Military Families and Cadets and Junior Canadian Ranger Program.
